80s pop legend Cyndi Lauper played a riotous hometown show on her farewell tour on July 19 — and the icon, 72, even had several outrageous costume changes throughout the show.
The musician played the beloved Jones Beach Theater on Long Island, New York on Saturday for her “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” Farewell Tour and she was photographed making at least eight costume changes. Those changes — which featured several outlandish and colorful looks that harken back to the 80s style Lauper is known for — also included wig changes as well, if you can believe it.

Lauper, who was born in Brooklyn, is taking her eye-catching Farewell tour across the United States and Canada over the next six weeks. Her next show is on Tuesday in Raleigh, North Carolina where she’ll be playing at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek. The final dates the singer has listed on her website are for an epic two-night stint at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, which will take place on August 29 and 30.

That said, her website does tout this next bout of shows as the "final leg" of her farewell efforts.

Lauper first came onto the music scene in 1980 with a New York City club scene band called Blue Angel. After the band broke up, she released her debut solo record She’s So Unusual, which was a global hit that peaked at No. 4 on the United States charts. Four songs from the album — “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” “Time After Time,” “She Bop,” and “All Through the Night” — became top five hits on the Billboard 100 charts. The debut secured Lauper the Grammy for Best New Artist in 1985.
Since her stunning debut, the musician has gone on to release 12 studio albums — including one blues album — and wrote the music and lyrics for the hit Broadway musical Kinky Boots, for which she won a Tony Award in 2013.

She will finally be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later this year.
