Adam Devine has big father-son plans on the horizon.

This month, the actor and comedian, 41, starred in a new MLB ad called “You Seeing This? Baseball is Something Else.” For the new spot, Devine hilariously inserted himself — via greenscreen — into several on-field scenarios alongside star players Aaron Judge, Paul Skenes and more.

It was “a little wish fulfillment” for the Los Angeles Dodgers fan, he tells PEOPLE. That, and it was all part of a grand plan to bring his 16-month-old son Beau to a Dodgers game in style, he jokes.

When asked if he has plans to start watching the sport with the little one, Devine says, “Absolutely,” before joking that “that's why I'm trying to ingratiate myself with [the MLB] — maybe get some better tickets than the ones I usually cop.”

That being said, it may be a while before Beau — whom Devine shares with wife Chloe Bridges — can hit the stadium, the star admits. Bridges, 33, “has him on such a sleep schedule that there's no getting around it,” Devine tells PEOPLE. It’s something the actor never thought possible — until it was.

"And it's pretty amazing,” the comedian says before joking that the toddler is “like a human crock pot. You just set it and forget it — that's just good parenting advice.”

In reality, Devine and Bridges, who tied the knot in 2021, have only spent a few days away from Beau since welcoming him in February 2024, according to the Pitch Perfect alum.

One of these rare moments was a "weekend getaway" to attend BottleRock music festival in May, Devine tells PEOPLE. “The whole weekend, we were like, ‘We're young and free.’ Meanwhile, we immediately felt old. It was like 11 p.m. and we were just snoring,” he recalls, adding that as parents, he and Bridges are “trying to find little times like that.”

“But also, we're having so much fun with him,” he adds of the toddler. “It's sort of like I don't want to get away, not for any longer than that. But a little weekend trip was pretty perfect. … I don't know if we're ready for a week quite yet. But a weekend was the right amount of time.”

Outside of baseball games, Devine also has plans to watch some of his own projects with Beau — some sooner than others.

The actor “might wait a few years for him to watch” Workaholics, he admits, and “maybe a couple years on” Righteous Gemstones. Jokes Devine: “I don't know if he needs to see a lot of male nudity at this age.”

"But,” he continues, “I've done some cartoons. I did Green Eggs and Ham, where I played Sam I Am for Netflix, and I did a Disney movie called Magic Camp that I would like for him to see."

“And Modern Family, I think he could dip his toes in,” he adds, “but there's a lot of stuff where I'm like, ‘Well, let's wait a second.’ ”

As the end credits roll, the toddler will be able to see his dad’s name — though he’s still just “dada,” per Devine. “It took him a while to get ‘dada,’ and then he got it,” the comedian says, "and then like a week later, now ‘mama’ rolls off the tongue."

“He said ‘night night’ the other day, which I was like, 'My son is a genius,' ” Devine says before joking: “All other babies are idiots. My 15-month-old said, ‘Night night.’ ”
