Blizzard has confirmed that the next significant Diablo 4 update won't arrive until around the launch of Season 10. Diablo 4's Season 9 only launched earlier this month, but it seems Blizzard is already focusing its resources on the game's future.
Player response to the last few Diablo 4 Seasons has been mixed, ranging from ongoing technical issues to Blizzard's narrow focus on specific meta builds. The recent Diablo 4 Season 9 added new features like Horadric Spellcraft and Escalating Nightmares, which went some way to help the game improve its Endgame offerings. However, the hope among the community is that future Seasons will offer something more substantial, even in the absence of a new expansion in 2025.

Diablo 4 Will Soon Have the Chance to Become Even Bigger
Diablo 4 is expected to be available to many more players soon, which will enable the game to expand even further and have a greater reach.
PostsAs reported by TheGamer, Director of Social and Content Marketing at Blizzard Adam Fletcher responded to a request for updates on X, stating that the studio is "in between seasons so nothing to share yet," and pointed out that fans can expect the "next update around PTR for S10/S10 Launch." It's undoubtedly sad news for fans, who may have hoped for a little more support for this Season, especially when Diablo 4's 2025 roadmap hints at Season 10 not arriving until around September.
No Significant Diablo 4 Updates Until Season 10
It should be noted that it appears Fletcher is talking about significant mid-season balance updates, as has been the case in most previous Diablo 4 Seasons. In the time since Fletcher's post, Blizzard has announced the patch notes for a July 29 Diablo 4 update, although that is focused on a bunch of minor bug fixes rather than any major changes. It would appear that Blizzard has deemed these mid-season balancing and content updates surplus to requirements, at least for Season 9.
CloseDiablo 4 is in an interesting place at the moment. Following the release of the Vessel of Hatred expansion last year, Blizzard has released multiple Seasons of the game to mixed success. The news that Diablo 4's next expansion won't arrive until 2026 was disappointing, too, breaking plans for annual releases. Hopefully, the game can get on track with more exciting content in the near future.
