Diablo 4 has received its license approval from the Chinese government. This makes Diablo 4 one of only seven foreign titles to be approved in July 2025, along with other games, such as Marvel Mystic Mayhem.
First released in June 2021, Diablo 4 is the newest title in the Diablo series. Mixing elements from both Diablo 2 and 3, players set out to stop Lillith, the Daughter of Hatred. This is the first game in the series to feature an open world, allowing gamers to run into and team up with other heroes if they encounter them. Diablo 4 is even getting consistent events on top of receiving frequent updates, adding new features, and balancing the different classes.

For Diablo 4's Next Expansion to Succeed, It Might Be Time to Bring Out the Big Guns
After the delay of Diablo 4's next expansion, Blizzard may benefit by going all out with the game's next big batch of content.
Posts 4As reported by Wowhead, Diablo 4 now has a chance of reaching many more gamers. It has now been approved for licensing in China, allowing the game to be played and distributed in that country. This comes right on time, as Diablo 4's most recent event has been extended, granting newer players more time to take advantage of the extra rewards. Game licenses do not get approved there easily, as shown by the fact that only seven foreign games in total have been approved during July 2025. However, Blizzard has a large presence internationally with many of its IPs.
Diablo 4 isn't the Only Blizzard Game Approved in China
CloseWhile Diablo 4 is the newest license to be approved in China, it certainly isn't the first. Some of Blizzard's most popular IPs, such as World of Warcraft and Hearthstone, have a large market in China, contributing to many of the games' sales. Additionally, in 2024, Blizzard recently renewed its partnership with NetEase to bring Diablo Immortal (as well as World of Warcraft) back to the country after a dispute in 2022. The mobile spinoff even received Chinese New Year cosmetics that are exclusive to China. Given the track record that Blizzard has when it brings its games to the Chinese market, Diablo 4 will likely see a large boost in its player base. PlayStation has even put Diablo 4 as one of its free games for PS Plus in July 2025, allowing more new players to have access to it.
Players coming in thanks to this new market will have plenty of content to look forward to. There are six classes, each having a plethora of potential builds to choose from. Diablo 4 also released its first expansion, Vessel of Hatred, in 2024, which added the sixth class along with more content, and it is confirmed to be working on more in the future. On top of this, seasons every few months constantly add new mechanics to the game to mix up builds, and it has even been recently teased that there could be big changes for Diablo 4 on the way.
