Dark Matter Abilities Unveiled: Enhancing Exploration and Combat in Destiny 2s Edge of Fate Expansion

During a recent livestream event, Bungie revealed the new Dark Matter abilities that players will be able to use while exploring Kepler in the upcoming Edge of Fate expansion for Destiny 2. These abilities, formerly part of the mysterious Codename Frontiers phase, mark a new evolution of the popular online shooter.

The Dark Matter abilities are designed to enhance traversal and exploration in the interconnected zones of Kepler. The Matterspark ability allows players to turn into an arc ball, similar to the Morph Ball technique from the Metroid franchise. The ViDoc also confirmed two other abilities, Mattermorph and Relocator, which allow players to utilize objects in the environment and teleport, respectively. These abilities can be upgraded with new perks to further enhance their effectiveness.

In addition to traversal and exploration, these Dark Matter abilities can also be used in combat. The Matterspark can explode into a damaging arc blast, while Mattermorph can set up new pathways or suspend enemies. Bungie is eager to see the various combinations players come up with, even teasing that some of these powers pair well with certain exotic perks and aspects to further push buildcrafting.

The Edge of Fate expansion also brings significant changes to exotic armor in Destiny 2. During the livestream, Bungie revealed three new exotic armor pieces: Eunoia for Warlocks, Moirai for Hunters, and Melas Panoplia for Titans. These new armor pieces improve existing abilities and add new ones, making them more powerful and versatile in combat.
