Helldivers 2’s New Major Order Makes Surprise Change to Some Enemies

RolandGames2025-06-282780

Helldivers 2 players received a new Major Order on June 26, alerting them to a new variant of Devastators and Hulks that have had their mobility significantly improved with Jump Packs. Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, Helldivers 2 debuted in February 2024 and has formed a strong community of players dedicated to liberating various planets from waves of various terrifying enemies.

Arrowhead Game Studios has remained consistent in its support for Helldivers 2, providing a steady stream of new content and regular updates to the multiplayer PvE shooter. The developer released a new patch for Helldivers 2 on June 24, fixing a number of weapon bugs, user interface glitches, and graphical errors. Some enemies — namely, the Leviathans — were nerfed to be weaker and less overwhelming, although the respite provided by these changes may feel short-lived in the face of Helldivers 2's newest threat.

An announcement of the new Major Order posted on the Helldivers 2 Twitter account includes in-universe footage of multiple Devastators and a single Hulk Automaton leaping through the air, clearing several yards in a single bound with the help of rear-mounted thrusters. The upgraded enemies are part of the Jet Brigade bot faction, an elite Automaton unit composed of troopers equipped with reverse-engineered Jump Packs stolen from fallen Helldivers. The new Jet Brigade Devastators and Hulks have likely been added to push players back in preparation for Arrowhead Game Studio's plans to add a new Automaton homeworld for Helldivers 2.

New Helldivers 2 Major Order Adds Jumping Devastators and Hulks

Some players who missed the initial announcement have been caught unprepared, with many posting their shocked reactions to the massive metal monsters soaring toward them on social media. Fans have barely had a chance to adapt since The Incineration Corps Automatons were added to Helldivers 2 back in March, which also buffed Hulks and Devastators with destructive incendiary weapons. With the new Major Order, it's clear that Arrowhead Game Studio is trying to keep Helldivers on their toes.

As is to be expected from a game as relentless as Helldivers 2, players probably shouldn't expect the new Automaton variants to be the last of their worries. If a prominent leaker is correct, a new enemy from the Helldivers 2 Illuminate alien faction could make themselves known very soon. Although unconfirmed, the new enemy is rumored to function as the cultists' laser-firing alternative to the Watcher. In the meantime, Helldivers are going to have to discover a strategy for countering the new leaping variants of the Devastator and Hulk Automatons before another planet is lost to the machines.
