Infinity Nikki Announces Stardew Valley Collab, But Fans Are Not Happy

LegacyGames2025-08-239221

Infinity Nikki developer Infold has announced a collaboration with Stardew Valley for version 1.9. Despite the seemingly positive news, the announcement post has been inundated with Infinity Nikki players demanding an apology from Infold instead, accusing the company of using the collab as a distraction to drown out voices calling out for more accountability.

Infinity Nikki has been mired in controversy since the release of version 1.5, which drastically altered the tutorial section for the worse, discontinued a popular free 5-star set, and introduced a monetization system that made obtaining a complete dress especially difficult for free-to-play players. This was compounded by numerous bugs, login issues, and performance problems that rendered the game virtually unplayable on certain platforms. The backlash prompted Infold to ban the term “boycott” on its social media channels, adding fuel to the fire as the community initiated a “girlcott” in response.

Infinity Nikki x Stardew Valley Collab Revealed Amid Backlash

On August 20, the official Infinity Nikki Twitter channel announced a collaboration with Stardew Valley, showing creatures from the cozy farming sim venturing into the world of Infinity Nikki. The event is set to release alongside Infinity Nikki version 1.9 “Music Season” on September 1 (UTC-7). No details were shared about the exact nature of the collab, what it will entail, or whether it will appear on Stardew Valley’s side or remain a one-sided event.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Stardew Valley crossover announcement was buried in negative comments that had nothing to do with the collab itself. While some fans expressed genuine excitement about seeing the two cozy games come together, a majority appeared upset, accusing Infold of “slapping the community in the face.” Despite Infold’s apology to Infinity Nikki players for what occurred in 1.5, it appears many remain adamant that it’s not enough.

Another reason the Stardew Valley x Infinity Nikki collaboration has soured is because of a recent Twitter post by Infold. In it, the company demanded players report all leakers to official channels and stop consuming them, likely a response to the many Infinity Nikki leaks that have surfaced over the past year. While an aversion to leaks would be understandable in any other context, the tone of the post, especially the “Leaks are poison to all creation” statement, triggered a fresh wave of backlash from the community that has carried over to the collab announcement.

The announcement of Infinity Nikki's collaboration with Stardew Valley has evoked a mixed reaction among fans, many expressing disappointment rather than excitement due to perceived lack in alignment between themes and expectations.
