Monster Hunter Wilds Gets First New Update of July 2025

EamonGames2025-07-021580

A new patch for Monster Hunter Wilds, Update Version 1.020.01.00, went live on July 1. Capcom released the newest entry in the Monster Hunter franchise earlier this year to widespread acclaim, wowing players with its expansive world, variety of monsters, and updated systems. While Monster Hunter Wilds did exceptionally well in its early days, performance issues on the PC version that seemingly got worse with every update sparked public outcry, earning it an “Overwhelming Negative” review rating on Steam.

Title Update 2 arrived just days ago to solve the most pressing performance problems in Monster Hunter Wilds’ PC version, earning back much of the goodwill Capcom had lost previously. However, growing pains for patches as large as Title Update 2 are inevitable, as the sheer amount of content they add and the changes they make often results in kinks that need to be ironed out with a hotfix immediately afterwards.

On July 1, Capcom revealed the patch notes for Update Version 1.020.01.00 on the official Monster Hunter Wilds website. The update is only a hotfix meant to solve the bugs that arose following Title Update 2’s release, and no gameplay changes were introduced. Notably, rewards for the newly added monsters Lagiacrus and Seregios were lower than intended in some situations, an issue that’s now been addressed. Frame rate drops when equipping certain ranged weapons were also fixed, and crashes related to the Appearance Menu in Monster Hunter Wilds that recently resulted in ample community attention should no longer be occurring.

Update Ver. 1.020.01.00 is already live on all platforms, but players who haven’t closed the instance since the patch’s release may need to restart to get it up and running. Monster Hunter Wilds’ online multiplayer features will remain inaccessible until the game has been updated to the latest version.

Though Update Version 1.020.01.00 may not be anything major, it signifies a heartening trend of Capcom keeping up with community feedback for MH Wilds and pushing out bug fixes as player reports roll in. Fast hotfix turnaround signals that the development team is ready and able to respond quickly to any issues that pop up.

Initial reception to Monster Hunter Wilds’ Title Update 2 has been positive, especially among PC players who can now enjoy the title with stable FPS. Stability has noticeably increased inside towns, with less texture pop-in and almost no camera jitter when turning. Occasional crashes still occur, but the overall technical state of the game is much better. While there are still some changes players hope for in upcoming updates, like primary color options for Lagiacrus and Seregios armor sets, community sentiment surrounding Capcom and the Monster Hunter franchise looks to be turning for the better.
