NASCAR Pit Fight Breaks Out At Sonoma

People are arguing about an altercation on pit row during NASCAR’s Sonoma race over the weekend was caught on camera. The incident involved Ty Gibbs entering his pit stall, almost hitting the RFK No. 6 team tire changer.

Cadillac officially has a Formula One team now.

In fact, Gibbs got so close to the man, he hit one of the tires he was holding, apparently twisting his wrist and affecting the pit stop time. While some are blaming the tire changer for not being the in the correct spot, others say Gibbs intentionally hit the man to try getting a competitive advantage.

After the pit stop was over, the tire changer went over to Gibbs’ pit crew and started something, clearly upset about the ordeal.

But later, NASCAR said Gibbs didn’t commit a violation, stating the pit stop incident wasn’t even under review. That angered RFK Racing, which released the footage on X, allowing fans to judge for themselves.

The Ty Gibbs defenders have their lines of argument. Among them are those pointing out that the tire changer supposed violated NASCAR rules by being on the pit road surface before the No. 6 car was one pit box away.

How they can see where the other car was in that moment isn’t clear, but they’re arguing that’s how it went down.

On the other hand are those claiming Gibbs obviously hit the tire changer intentionally. Some have pointed out the No. 54 car was clearly inside the orange pit box line, so Gibbs was the one who violated NASCAR rules.

But there are some who just view it as a close call with nobody at fault, characterizing it as more of a freak accident than anything nefarious.

Watch the footage for yourself and let us know who you think is at fault, if anyone.
