Rematch developer Sloclap has promised to fix a controversial exploit in the popular soccer game: jumping is currently faster than running. The exploit is pretty controversial in the Rematch community, as most players do not seem to like it, yet many constantly employ it to get ahead in the competitive scene.
Released on June 19, Rematch has been quite a popular soccer game, surpassing 92,000 concurrent players on Steam at launch. In Rematch, gamers play as a single character, instead of controlling the whole soccer team, and matches have simplified rules. Rematch can currently be played only in the competitive mode, which comes in four varieties, but a single-player experience is being planned by the devs, and it’s said that it will be implemented in 2026.

PostsNow, Sloclap has promised to solve one of the most pressing issues of the soccer game: jumping is faster than simply running normally. In a post made by a player called Hiken_D, it’s possible to see a short clip of a match when the Attackers are constantly jumping to move quickly, which the player deemed as “stupid.” The post obtained over 1,200 upvotes, and developer Sloclap responded, saying that this was an “unintended” issue, and that the team planned to push an update out very soon, likely before the weekend, to fix this. The exploit has certainly caused controversy within the community, as most players in the comments acknowledged that issues like this made Rematch look “goofy,” but it’s being widely used because the additional speed helps players to win.
Developer Sloclap Promises to Fix Jumping Being Faster Than Running in Rematch Soon
Hopefully, the issue will be addressed soon, as Sloclap continues to improve Rematch. Soon after release, Rematch gained somewhat positive reviews, with some of the most commonly criticized aspects of the experience being performance issues and not having a single-player mode yet. At the moment, Rematch holds an average score of 74 on OpenCritic.
CloseAside from tweaking these minor problems, Sloclap is currently planning to add crossplay to Rematch as soon as possible. The title was originally intended to have this feature at launch, but the team ran into unexpected technical problems and was unable to ship the title with crossplay enabled. In any case, even with some minor hiccups, Rematch has been steadily popular, and it remains to be seen how Sloclap will continue to support it in 2025 and whether gamers will remain interested in the new soccer game.
