Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader Producer Reveals His Dream Game Project

FleurGames2025-06-288420

Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader’s executive producer, Anatoly Shestov, has recently shared his dream game: a title based on the Secure, Contain, and Protect (SCP) universe. This is certainly an unusual idea, as Owlcat Games has mostly focused on well-known IPs so far, but the creators of Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader certainly seem capable of pulling it off.

Owlcat Games was founded in 2016, and it has released Pathfinder: Kingmaker, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, and Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader since then, all licensed titles based on popular tabletop role-playing franchises. Recently, the developers announced that they are developing Warhammer 40K: Dark Heresy and The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, but this does not mean that some people in the team are not dreaming ahead with even more projects.

In a recent interview with Videogamer, Shestov was talking about Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader’s “Lex Imperialis” DLC, which will bring a sizeable chunk of story content for the popular RPG, and revealed that his dream project would be a big-budget SCP game. While Shestov said that he would like Owlcat Games to proceed with its own franchises, too, he admitted that for him personally, "I always wanted to make a game based on a SCP universe, like Secure, Contain and Protect.” The producer praised the license for being a fully community-driven project, and said that the “child inside me” thought it was a brilliant idea. Certainly, it would be exciting to see a large-scale, big-budget RPG based on the franchise.

Me personally, I always want to make a game based on a SCP universe, like Secure, Contain and Protect

Secure, Contain, and Protect, also known as the SCP Foundation, is a fictional organization and community project created by contributors from all over the world on a wiki-based website. In the fictional lore, the SCP Foundation is an organization that fights paranormal or supernatural entities created by the community, and it has been fairly active since 2008. The community is really passionate about the project, and all material is entirely open-source, with some popular stories often appearing in the writings of other members of the project.

Obviously, Shestov’s interview is no guarantee that Owlcat Games will ever create a SCP game, but even if it doesn’t happen, gamers can at least play some of the multiple SCP-inspired games available. The franchise currently has several free and paid titles for PC, including SCP: Secret Laboratory, SCP: Bloodwater, SCP: Strategy, SCP: Secret Files, and SCP: 5K, which come in several genres, such as horror, strategy, and even first-person shooters.
