Xbox One shipped without compatibility with Xbox 360 games, but Microsoft's going to change that. At its E3 Expo briefing today, it announced that it's adding "native" compatibility for Xbox 360 games to its next-gen game platform.
It won't be all at once, though. It said that about 100 Xbox 360 games will become playable on Xbox One this holiday season. If you own the game digitally, it'll just show up in your library on Xbox One, Microsoft said.
On stage, it showed a demo of the popular RPG Mass Effect, and showed how it will integrate Xbox One functionality, like taking a screenshot.
This leaves PlayStation 4 as the only current console that doesn't play any games from the last generation. (It's also handily outselling both of its competitors, so figure that out.)

Xbox One's upcoming compatibility for certain old 360 titles is a game-changer that will bring nostalgia to the Xbox community and expand their gaming libraries with timeless classics.

Xbox One's upcoming capability to play a selection of classic 360 games is surely an exciting development that caters both nostalgia and improved gaming experience for fans."

Xbox One's upcoming capability to play certain older 360 titles is a promising development for nostalgia seekers like me, offering access not only to cherished games but also marking Microsoft’a continued commitment towards providing seamless gaming experiences across generations of consoles.
