A new leak from Honkai: Star Rail is hinting at a major new character for the game's third anniversary next year, bringing Yae Sakura to Star Rail's roster. The sci-fi RPG from HoYoverse has featured a wide variety of different characters for players to add to their team for more than two years since the game's launch. Honkai: Star Rail recently introduced Hysilens to the playable roster with the launch of the Version 3.5 update, with Cerydra set to join the game later in the patch. Now, new leaks are hinting at another Honkai Impact 3rd import.
Given its status as a spinoff of Honkai Impact 3rd, Honkai: Star Rail has welcomed plenty of homages to its predecessor within the roster. Characters like Bronya, Seele, and Acheron all serve as alternate versions of pre-existing characters from Honkai Impact 3rd, often containing plenty of tongue-in-cheek references to the previous game. HoYoverse has even confirmed that the Welt Yang aboard the Astral Express is the same character that featured prominently within the main story of Honkai Impact 3rd. A recent leak is now suggesting that a fan-favorite Honkai Impact 3rd character will hit Star Rail next year.
A new update shared by prominent HoYoverse leaker Anon Leaks is teasing the addition of Yae Sakura to Honkai: Star Rail. According to the leak, Honkai: Star Rail's next anniversary update, said to be Version 4.2, will add the Star Rail version of Yae Sakura to the playable roster, expected to debut as an Ice Elation character. The leak even suggests that HoYoverse is designing an entire team composition around Yae Sakura, referring to the team composition as "Elation Battleship." Honkai: Star Rail's Version 4.2 is expected to launch in April 2026.
Honkai: Star Rail Leaks Yae Sakura for Third Anniversary
The new information about Yae Sakura's release comes as leaks have already begun to give fans some clues about her Star Rail debut. Yae Sakura will release as a member of Honkai: Star Rail's next new Path said to be coming with the fifth playable world, introducing a playable Elation Path. Previous information has also hinted at other characters who will be joining the new Path, with the typical Trailblazer variant being accompanied by a new version of popular five-star character Sparkle.
Honkai: Star Rail's roster will be receiving plenty of exciting additions soon and players won't have to wait until Yae Sakura's release. HoYoverse has already teased the new characters coming to the game in Version 3.6, with both March 7th and Dan Heng confirmed to be receiving new variants. Evernight will join the game as an Ice Remembrance character, teased to potentially be March 7th with her memories re-awakened, while Dan Heng's "Permansor Terrae" will debut as a Physical Preservation character. Honkai: Star Rail's roster looks to be expanding substantially in the near future.
