Award-winning 1957 Corvette Fuelie with 283-hp V8 and frame-off restoration set for auction at Monterey Jet Center.
A meticulously restored 1957 Chevrolet Corvette equipped with its original fuel-injected 283-cubic-inch V8 is set to cross the block at Broad Arrow Auctions’ upcoming Jet Center event, offering collectors a rare chance at one of the most important performance milestones in Corvette history.

Designated chassis number E57S102794, this car represents one of just 756 examples built that year with Chevrolet’s cutting-edge Rochester mechanical fuel injection system—an innovation that helped Corvette reach the coveted 1 horsepower per cubic inch with its 283-horsepower rating. Developed by engineer John Dolza and performance chief Zora Arkus-Duntov, the "Fuelie" system revolutionized street-legal speed in the late 1950s.

Finished in elegant Polo White with contrasting Inca Silver coves and a radio-delete red vinyl interior, this example benefits from a frame-off restoration completed in the early 1990s and has since earned multiple National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS) Top Flight Awards—first in 2006 and again in 2009. Both accolades were secured under the ownership of Corvette enthusiast Richard Kiehl, who invested in fine-tuning the restoration to an elite standard.

The car joined a Southern California collection in 2010 with just over 3,000 miles since restoration. It now shows only 71 additional miles and comes with documentation, receipts, a matching spare wheel, and jack. Its fuel-injection system was rebuilt as part of the restoration, and the car has recently undergone a mechanical inspection and fresh service in preparation for auction.

A total of only 6,339 Corvettes were produced in 1957, making the high-performance fuel-injected variant an even rarer prize. With timeless styling and early motorsport credentials, this “Fuelie” stands as a cornerstone of Corvette heritage and a strong contender for collectors seeking performance pedigree and concours-level restoration.
