One of the Best Xbox Game Pass RPGs of 2022 is Getting DLC on August 7

Publisher Deck13 Spotlight has recently confirmed that Chained Echoes: Ashes of Elrant will be released on August 7, 2025. Ashes of Elrant will be a new DLC for the popular PG Chained Echoes, and it's set to bring more story, areas, monsters, and bosses to the popular game, which many gamers originally discovered via Xbox Game Pass.

Created by the solo dev Matthias Linda (also known as Umami Tiger), Chained Echoes was originally released in 2022. Using 16-bit pixel art graphics, the game was inspired by Japanese RPGs from the 90s, such as Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6, and others. At the time, Chained Echoes was added to the Xbox Game Pass subscription service as a day one release, becoming quite popular on the platform. Unfortunately, Chained Echoes was removed from Game Pass in December 2023, leaving saddened fans, as the title was considered one of the best RPGs to be added to the service.

Now, Deck13 has released a new video for Chained of Echoes: Ashes of Elrant, revealing that the upcoming DLC will be released on August 7 on all platforms. According to the company, the DLC will be set soon before the end of the base game, as the main characters will be called for action one last time. During their adventure, they will find out more information about the Order of Leonar and Lenne’s past, facing new challenges along the way. The DLC will come with a new playable character, a few additional areas, over 40 enemies and bosses, more than 15 new music tracks, more equipment, and even a few unique mini-games. Some details about Chained of Echoes’ upcoming DLC have not yet been confirmed, though, such as how lengthy this new story will be.

Since Chained Echoes’ release, Umami Tiger and Deck13 have not released many major updates for the title. One of the most significant patches was the addition of a New Game+ mode for Chained Echoes, which happened a few weeks after the title was released.

While some gamers will likely have already finished Chained Echoes, the DLC will give them a reason to come back and spend some more time in its world. With an average critic score of 89 on OpenCritic, Chained Echoes is among the best RPGs released in 2022, and it’s also likely that the release of the DLC may attract gamers who have not given this title a chance yet, too.
