World of Warcraft is bringing back the Greedy Emissary event, but between new rewards, Treasure Goblin affixes, Portal Storms, and the Collector’s Bounty buff, the activity is going to be a fair bit more robust than last time. Fans can enjoy this Diablo-themed event in World of Warcraft from July 1 to July 29.
The Greedy Emissary is a Diablo crossover event in WoW where players can hunt down Treasure Goblins to earn unique rewards inspired by the world of Sanctuary. Its first run took place in May and June 2023 to celebrate the launch of Diablo 4, though the event itself was an iteration of the Diablo 20th anniversary celebration that took place in January 2017, where Treasure Goblins appeared in World of Warcraft for the first time.

World of Warcraft Patch 11.2 Includes a Helpful Delve Quality-of-Life Improvement
A new quality-of-life improvement from World of Warcraft Patch 11.2, Ghosts of K'aresh, is a game-changer for fans of the Delves feature.
PostsNow, the Greedy Emissary is returning to World of Warcraft with some pretty big changes. Starting July 1, Treasure Goblins will spawn at the top of every hour in Orgrimmar, Stormwind, and Dornogal, similarly to the last event. However, Treasure Goblins can also spawn in Undermine through a different method: defeating rares in Undermine, or a boss in the Liberation of Undermine raid, has a chance to summon a Treasure Goblin portal. What’s more, at 15 minutes past each hour, a Portal Storm can spawn in Undermine, opening five extra Treasure Goblin portals to hunt and loot.

Treasure Goblins now also drop Hellcaller Chests containing Valorstones, gear, and a new currency called Hellstone Shards. These items can be exchanged with Hellhunter Baranar in Dornogal for recolors of the revamped Tier 2 sets from the WoW 20th anniversary event. The first 10 Hellcaller Chests players open each day always yield Hellstone Shards. Additional rewards can drop from Treasure Goblins themselves, including new items like Inarius’ Charger and the Blood-Wrapped Treasure Bag, and old ones like Tyrael’s Charger, Baal’lial, and the Tome of Town Portal.
During the event, fans can also benefit from the Collector’s Bounty buff as well. This passive enhancement boosts the drop rates for transmogs in all pre-Dragonflight dungeons and raids, though the drop rates of certain items like the Warglaives of Azzinoth, Thori’dal, the Stars’ Fury, and rare mounts in World of Warcraft like Invincible have been increased by up to 10 times, with one item in particular having a 25% higher chance. Toys and pets are exempt from this boost, as are drop rates during Timewalking content.
