A new The Elder Scrolls 6 trailer is currently circulating at Bethesda, according to a recent industry insider report. While it's unconfirmed whether this video is in the process of being tweaked for publication or not, the claim itself suggests that The Elder Scrolls 6 development is progressing at a reasonable pace.
June 10 marked the seventh anniversary of Bethesda officially announcing TES 6 with a brief video teaser showcased at E3 2018. The much-anticipated Skyrim sequel entered pre-production at some point in the five years that followed. In August 2023, Bethesda confirmed that TES 6 had started active development once the bulk of the work on Starfield's base game was done. The Microsoft-owned company has shared little other info about the project ever since.

The Elder Scrolls 6 Should Pick Its Poison and Stick With It
The Elder Scrolls 6 has the chance to disrupt a pattern that has plagued the franchise since its very first game over 30 years ago.
PostsWhile Bethesda's radio silence continues, the game's development may be progressing well. This can be inferred from a recent Jez Corden report stating that there's a new internal TES 6 trailer currently circulating within Bethesda. The existence of this trailer is what made Corden suspect the Skyrim sequel could appear during the latest edition of the Xbox Games Showcase, which took place on June 8, with the industry insider saying as much during the latest episode of The Xbox Two Podcast, around the 36:51 mark.
TES 6's Rumored Trailer May Not Be Intended for Public Viewing
Taking Corden's claim at face value, there are two plausible explanations for Bethesda committing resources to making a new TES 6 trailer at this point in time. Obviously, one is that the developer is getting ready to treat the game to a full-fledged reveal, and it's currently in the process of gathering internal feedback on its much-anticipated reveal trailer. However, trailers intended for public viewing aren't often circulated within a company, at least not when it comes to studios the size of Bethesda. What's much more typical in AAA development is to have internal-only trailers made for milestone updates, executive reviews, platform holder feedback, or cross-team alignment, among several other reasons.
CloseWhile the rumored trailer may not be intended for public viewing, its very existence suggests The Elder Scrolls 6 development is progressing well enough to be worthy of a visual status report for the company's higher-ups. Based on Bethesda's development practices, the game could feasibly be ready for release in late 2028. Consequently, its proper reveal may not be too far away.
Elder Scrolls 6 Unlikely to Appear at Gamescom 2025
Be that as it may, Corden believes it's unlikely that TES 6 will appear at Gamescom, the next big gaming industry event taking place in August. Still, if the project were on track for a 2028 release, Bethesda would be likely to reveal it in the foreseeable future. For reference, Starfield was showcased 15 months ahead of its release, but it didn’t face the same pressure of following a multi-decade wait for a sequel.
