As Taylor Fritz plays Carlos Alcaraz for a spot in the Wimbledon 2025 finals, all eyes are on the highest-ranked American tennis player.
Cheering him on, undoubtedly, will be his close family. In addition to his girlfriend Morgan Riddle, sitting in his player’s box on Centre Court is typically his mom Kathy May and his dad Guy Fritz. Here, get to know Taylor Fritz’s family.
Taylor’s mom Kathy May

Taylor Fritz’s mom, Kathy, is the great-granddaughter of David May, who founded the May Department Stores—better known today as Macy’s.

She was a professional tennis player, reaching a ranking of no. 10 and winning seven titles. She also competed in three Grand Slam quarterfinals—at the U.S. Open in 1978, and the French Open in 1977 and 1978.

In 1981, she married firefighter Donn Paben, and they had two sons, Chris and Kyle (see below). They, too, divorced, and sometime later, Kathy married Guy Fritz. They welcomed son Taylor in October 1997, and split around 2015 or 2016.
Of her son, Kathy recalled, “The first tournament that he ever played in, he was 8 years old, and we were just hoping he could keep score. I was shocked at how focused he was. I mean, for an 8-year-old — I thought, Wow, he’s got amazing concentration. He’s so strong mentally. I’m really impressed with his work ethic and what he’s done. His motivation and determination have been incredible.”
Taylor’s dad Guy Fritz

Guy Fritz also was a tennis player, though a less successful one than his ex-wife; he reached a career high ranking of 301. He is the brother of Canadian tennis player Harry Fritz and always encouraged his son in the sport.

So, any time it was raining in San Diego, I’m looking at the weather forecast at Indian Wells, and I’d say, ‘Let’s go.’ He developed close friendships with some of the other players — I think he cared more about seeing his friends than playing tennis. They’d play pingpong, catch lizards, all the things 8-year-old kids do. But I remember telling him, ‘You know, you’re gonna win this tournament someday,’” referring to Indian Wells.
He took a step back from involvement in his son’s career after Taylor turned 18. Taylor said in 2021, “My dad was much more involved, with me all the way through juniors, and then at a point I just thought it was time to move on and find someone who…it’s just tough when it’s a parent-coach relationship. I needed someone I could listen to more easily, have an easier time talking to, like about tennis stuff. It was just a weird dynamic.”
Taylor’s son Jordan Fritz

In 2017, Taylor, who was just 19 years old at the time, became a dad to his son Jordan with his then-wife Raquel Pedraza. Taylor and Raquel divorced in 2019. After winning the Wimbledon quarterfinals, Taylor spoke about wanting to call his 8-year-old. “Right now, I would love to call him to say that I won my last match and that I'm in the Wimbledon semifinals; I haven't had time since the match ended. I don't know if this would be enough to impress him; I hope so [laughs]. Every time I tell him that I won a title or played really well, it's like... he doesn't react too much, let's say [laughs]. Hopefully, one day I can do something to truly impress him.”
Taylor’s half-brothers Chris and Kyle
Taylor has two older half-brothers from his mom’s second marriage; both Chris Paben and Kyle Paben stay out of the public eye, however, and don’t travel to their younger sibling’s matches.
