Abandoned Audi R8 Supercar Gets Second Life After Five-Year NeglectA high-performance Audi R8 supercar left outside for five years has been rescued and restored to former glory by a professional detailing team — and they did it for free.
The German exotic, once worth six figures, had been abandoned in a driveway and left to deteriorate under layers of grime, chewed wiring, and a failed air suspension. Its transformation was documented by WD Detailing, a Cleveland-based shop known for reviving neglected vehicles for their popular YouTube channel.
“It looked like it had been forgotten for decades,” said Jason Otterness, co-founder of WD Detailing. “But once we got to work, the transformation was stunning.”
The R8’s condition shocked many viewers — a car of that caliber isn’t what you’d typically expect to find gathering dust and mouse nests. According to the owner, the car’s downfall began when the air suspension failed. Multiple attempts to have it towed to a shop were unsuccessful. Then came the COVID-19 pandemic and a series of personal setbacks that left the car parked and forgotten.
“Tow companies wouldn’t take it because of the ride height, and then life just happened,” the owner explained during the cleanup.
Despite sitting idle for half a decade, the paint and interior cleaned up remarkably well. The team spent hours restoring the body, wheels, and cabin to like-new condition. Even the skeptical owner admitted the supercar looked better than when he first bought it.
The rescue wasn’t just a win for the owner — the detailing crew’s time-lapse footage and before-and-after shots have drawn millions of views online. In exchange for their effort, WD Detailing gains viral content, while the once-forgotten Audi is now ready for a fresh start.
“It’s not every day you save a supercar,” Otterness said. “But when you do, it’s worth every minute.”
