An upcoming new game called Soul Chained is like Chained Together—where the gameplay revolves around players being physically linked by a chain—but with a Soulslike RPG twist. Much like in Chained Together, players must cooperate to overcome platforming challenges, but also to face off against various enemies and bosses.
Co-op video games are known for offering countless hours of fun. These games are designed to challenge players to work together and overcome various obstacles. There are all kinds of different co-op games, spanning various genres and styles, such as cooking games like Overcooked, narrative games like A Way Out, or even games that combine a bunch of different styles like the award-winning It Takes Two. Some games demand more cooperation than others, such as Chained Together, a physics-driven 3D co-op platformer where players are literally chained together and must climb out of Hell using realistic chain physics to swing, pull, or drag each other down, among other things. Now, a new Steam game puts an interesting spin on that formula.

PostsSoul Chained takes inspiration from Chained Together’s co-op gameplay and promises to deliver a Soulslike RPG adventure where players must explore a giant world packed with tough enemies and difficult platforming sections. The game follows the story of two rival warlords, now in Purgatory, who have to atone for their sins by working together to ascend to the afterlife.
Soul Chained Developer Promises a 'Creative and Chaotic' Experience
CloseAs described by solo developer Kyroware, players will need to use the chain to interact with both the environment and each other, promising a “creative and chaotic” experience similar to other co-op games that could easily ruin a friendship. Players can use the chain during combat to trip bosses, entrap foes, or grab groups of enemies by pulling the chain tight and rushing forward together. Whatever they choose to do, the developer emphasized how important it is for players to communicate in Soul Chained.
Moreover, the game promises a brutal Soulslike combat system, where players must focus on precision, positioning, and tactics. Kyroware also promises that, although combat will be tough, it is “a rewarding pursuit.” To complete the game, players will need to face off against “six deadly trials” that embody the characters' war sins. The developer has not revealed a release window for Soul Chained yet, though a demo is available now to download from the game’s Steam page. Kyroware has expressed its commitment to “delivering maximum quality,” and has encouraged players to install the demo and provide any feedback to help with the game’s development.
