Trafford Waters’ first affordable development in Greater Manchester tops out

L&Q and Trafford Council in the UK have reached a significant milestone, with the final concrete roof slab installed at Trafford Waters’ first affordable housing development in Greater Manchester.
Named 'Pearson Place', the development by L&Q offers 83 homes, all available under a rent-to-buy scheme, making it the first 100% affordable housing project at Trafford Waters.
Rowlinson, the appointed contractors for Pearson Place, are constructing one- and two-bedroom apartments, each featuring a balcony and distributed across two blocks.
The project, supported by funding from Homes England, is on track for completion early next year, with residents expected to move in shortly thereafter.
L&Q development delivery director Neil Davis said: “This is such an important development for the area, for Trafford and for L&Q, as it will bring 100% affordable homes locally.
"We are grateful for the support and partnership of Trafford Council, Peel Waters, Rowlinson and Homes England and were delighted to welcome them all on-site to celebrate this milestone.
“This is our first rent-to-buy scheme to the area and we look forward to welcoming the first residents of Trafford Waters soon.”
The wider master plan for Trafford Waters, planned and designed by development group Peel Waters, is set to transform a 55-acre site into a community with 3,000 new homes, amenity space, and office areas.
The topping-out ceremony in TraffordCity was attended by key figures, including Trafford Council leader and councillor Tom Ross, executive member for housing and advice councillor George Devlin, and corporate director for place Richard Roe.
Representatives from L&Q and Peel Waters were also present to celebrate this construction achievement.
Devlin said: “There is a shortage of private and affordable homes in Trafford, and we are totally committed to support the provision of more across the borough. We have made building homes for all a strategic priority and will continue to work hard to ensure our residents have access to settled, affordable, and decent homes.
“The Trafford Waters scheme is a very important part of this strategic approach and will bring thousands of new and affordable homes to the borough. Thank you to all our partners working on this scheme.”
This development follows the recent opening of the neighbouring 85-bed Trafford Waters Care Home, also constructed by Rowlinson.
In February this year, Peel Waters announced a partnership with international companies to introduce the UK's first 'floating' padel tennis courts at Liverpool Waters.
