A new rumor has revealed some fresh details surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6, specifically the game's online multiplayer mode. While numerous unverified Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks have circulated the internet since 2022, a new source claims to have inside knowledge of the next iteration of Grand Theft Auto Online, stating that it will feature significantly larger player servers than the current version.
Outside of the gigantic leak in 2022, developer Rockstar Games has kept the next Grand Theft Auto game relatively under wraps. But that hasn't stopped numerous leakers and industry insiders from claiming to know details about GTA 6. One of the most recent rumors came back in June, when a trusted leaker revealed tons of potential new information about Grand Theft Auto 6. The leaker claims that the highly anticipated title will have 700+ stores, a limited weapon wheel similar to Red Dead Redemption 2, five story chapters, and more. It was also claimed that the ability to go prone, which could be seen in the 2022 leaks, has been scrapped entirely.

GTA 6's Pre-Order Bonuses Are Already Obvious
There's a lot of speculation around what pre-order bonuses Grand Theft Auto 6 might offer, though some things seem like sure-fire benefits.
Posts 5Just one month on, and there are fresh claims about Grand Theft Auto 6, specifically regarding the game's online mode. Although Rockstar has yet to confirm what the future holds for Grand Theft Auto Online, many have speculated that Grand Theft Auto 6 will come with its own multiplayer component - Grand Theft Auto Online 2, if you will. According to Medium writer Fravilys (via PC Gamer), Rockstar Games is intending to up the ante in multiplayer lobbies by supporting servers up to 64 players. Double the amount of the current GTA Online. The insider also claims that the studio is aiming to increase that number even more, possibly allowing support for up to 96 players per server.
GTA 6 Online Reportedly Aiming for Minimal Loading Times
CloseAside from massive server capacity, Fravilys also claimed that Grand Theft Auto 6's online mode, which is apparently codenamed GTA6MP, is at an "advanced stage" in its development cycle. More so than what the current Grand Theft Auto Online was during GTA 5's development. The leaker goes on to explain that one of the most significant improvements over its predecessor will be the ability to "perform free-roam multiplayer activities with players from different sessions, without ever having to leave your own environment or experience loading times." Of course, these claims come from an individual with no previous track record, so it's important to take this information with a pinch of salt.
In 2023, Rockstar Games acquired Grand Theft Auto Online roleplay developer, Cfx.re, who are known for the massively popular FiveM mod. Although Rockstar hasn't outright stated that the acquisition of the FiveM developers will have any impact on Grand Theft Auto 6 Online, it only seems logical that the roleplay servers will be implemented into the game's multiplayer. As noted by PC Gamer, FiveM currently offers a variety of Grand Theft Auto 5 servers that can accommodate hundreds of players simultaneously.
If the aforementioned claims surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6 Online are true, there's a good chance Rockstar could be increasing the server capacity to implement something similar to GTA 5's FiveM servers. Only time will tell.
