July 10 Will Be a Big Day for Ghost of Yotei Fans

Sucker Punch finally puts a hard date on the upcoming Ghost of Yotei State of Play event and, thankfully, fans don't have to wait too much longer. Following Ghost of Yotei's reveal last September, news on the upcoming game has seemingly been few and far between.

Much of what fans know has come from trailers, which highlight the new Ghost of Yotei protagonist and a time jump of about 300 years beyond the first game in the series. Set on a path of vengeance against a group called the Yotei Six, Atsu will be traversing the northern regions of Japan in parts of modern-day Hokkaido. As usual, Sucker Punch visited the area, did its research, and aims to depict a respectful portrayal of the Ainu culture inside the game. A recent announcement from Sucker Punch will finally give fans their best look at the game yet.

After initially teasing a dedicated State of Play event for Ghost of Yotei in July, Sucker Punch has finally set the date in stone, and it's actually right around the corner. Over on the PlayStation Blog, a new post confirmed the upcoming Ghost of Yotei State of Play event for July 10, kicking off at 5pm ET. So far, much of the marketing information and details on the game have been about the lead character Atsu and her quest for vengeance.

However, this State of Play will be performing a deep dive into the game, giving fans their best look at the other gameplay elements available at launch. While the post didn't go into a ton of detail, it did confirm that Ghost of Yotei’s Creative Directors, Jason Connell and Nate Fox, will be hosting the event, which is going to last around 20 minutes in length. Fans will be getting a good look at things like the weapons Atsu will have access to, special modes to check out, customization options, and plenty more.

Some of the elements that will be shown off at the upcoming State of Play may have already leaked a bit early thanks to the recently posted Ghost of Yotei ESRB classification. As expected for a Mature rated game, players can expect to see things like blood and violence, hear language, and other things, but the rating also revealed a few additional gameplay details as well. Some of the weapons that the blog post mentions will seemingly include spears, bows, and rifles, alongside the katana and kusarigama, which have been confirmed previously. Atsu will also seemingly take part in slow-motion style cinematic finishing moves, likely against the members of the Yotei Six.
